Abreu lifts Yanks over Twins in 12

Baseball Betting Lines

06/01/2008 - Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Bobby Abreu went 2-for-5 with two runs batted in, including the go-ahead run in the 12th inning, as the New York Yankees edged the Minnesota Twins, 7-6, in the second of a four-game series from the Metrodome.

Johnny Damon had a one-out single in the 12th inning, and Derek Jeter put runners on the corners with another base-hit. Abreu put the Yankees on top with an RBI single.

Mariano Rivera took the hill for the Yanks in the home 12th and got Delmon Young to go down swinging. Mike Lamb grounded out and Nick Punto lined out to end the game.

Alex Rodriguez also had two RBI for the Yankees, who have won three in a row and eight of their last 10. Jose Molina and Melky Cabrera each added an RBI in the win.

Chien-Ming Wang started for N.Y. and went 5 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on nine hits for the no-decision. Ross Ohlendorf (1-1) got the win as he threw a scoreless 10th and 11th and Rivera earned his 15th save of the year with a perfect 12th. Rivera has yet to give up a run this season in a save situation.

Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-6 and hit the game-tying homer in the seventh inning for the Twins, who have dropped two in a row. Lamb and Young each recorded three hits in defeat.

Twins starter Boof Bonser went five innings and gave up five runs -- two earned -- on five hits. Juan Rincon (2-2) absorbed the loss as he was touched for Abreu's run in the 12th.

The Twins made it 1-0 in the first inning. Alexi Casilla worked a one-out walk and stole second. Two batters later, Justin Morneau singled to left to score Casilla.

Minnesota tacked on another run in the second. Young clubbed a one-out double and Lamb's base hit put runners on the corners. Punto plated Young with a sacrifice fly to right.

"It's hard when you battle a tough team like that for nine innings," Young said. "We came out, scored some runs; they have a powerful offense to keep them in the game."

The Yanks rallied in the third. Damon worked a two-out walk and stole second base. Jeter then made it first and third as he reached on a throwing error by Punto. Abreu cracked a double to left field which plated Damon and left both runners in scoring position. Rodriguez blasted a two-run single just over the glove of a leaping Punto, and New York was leading 3-2.

Casilla led-off the third inning with a walk, and Joe Mauer followed with a bunt single. Morneau flied out to left, but Cuddyer finagled an RBI single to center, and the game was tied at three.

Hideki Matsui led-off the sixth inning with a walk and Jason Giambi followed with a single. Jesse Crain was then called on in relief of Bonser and got Robinson Cano to pop out. Jose Molina, though, belted an RBI-double to right field. Cabrera offered a sac fly to right, allowing Giambi to cross home plate. Damon kept it going with a grounder just out of the reach of a diving Lamb to plate Molina, and the Yankees were up 6-3.

"This is where we need to be," Damon said. "We're trying to put the mistakes on the other team."

The Twins rallied in the home sixth. Young led-off with a single and two batters later, Punto added another single. The runners crafted a double steal and Carlos Gomez hit an RBI-single to right, forcing Wang from the game in favor of Edwar Ramirez. Casilla then grounded into a force out, with Gomez out at second, but Jeter botched the throw back to first and Punto scored.

Cuddyer's solo shot off Ramirez in the seventh tied the game at six.

Neither team mustered another run, and the game headed for extra innings.

Game Notes

Rivera is now 15-for-15 in save opportunities this season...The Twins left 12 runners on base...The Yankees stranded eight runners...Time of game was 4:35...Attendance was 36,441.

American Idol odds : Blake Lewis the Early Standout

An important American Idol betting lines recap from February 20 Guys episode. The 12 men came out flat overall with Blake Lewis appearing to have the early edge after the first hour and a half.

Rudy - was quite good singing "Free Ride" to start off.  Randy was not impressed though.  Paula thought he started off fantastic.  "Never had anyone stop off so lively" said Paula but Simon (who does not like Rudy) does not feel he has a distinct voice and was not impressed either.

Brandon was a little pitchy according to Randy and Paula agreed.  Simon said he was a good singer but the song was "too safe" and he needs to make an impact.  He was listed at +1200 odds or $1200 paid out on a $100 bet should he win the competition.

Big favorite Sundance came in with a flat version of "Knights in White Satin" and the judges let him have it, including Paula.  Randy claimed the song was out of pitch throughout.

Korean American - and a Jenny Woo favorite - Paul Kim was up next.  Another pitchy flat one but Randy said he still liked his potential.  Kim at +3000 odds was said to have sung a "third rate version of that (George Michael) song" according to Simon Cowell.  He sang "Careless Whisper".

22 year old Chris Richardson was up next.  He was listed with +1100 odds coming in.  He got the best response from the judges though Simon did not believe the vocal was that great.

Nick was boring and pitchy.  Simon didn't think he was that bad though and predicted he would be back next week.  Nick Pedro was a big +3000 dog coming into this competition.

Beat boxer Blake Lewis was listed with early +1000 odds or $1000 payout on a $100 bet if he were to become the next American Idol winner odds .  These of course were the early odds.  He was considered original for picking an "odd song".  He did not beat box and the judges felt it was the best vocal of the night.

Sanjaya came in as the second biggest favorite after Chris Sligh but his performance Tuesday night was not very good.

Chris Sleigh was the early favorite at +450 odds.  Great voice and a great sense of humor.  He's a real standout.  Randy felt it was on point but maybe ahead of the chorus a little bit.  Simon Cowell said he felt like he was in some "sort of weird student gig".

Jared Cotter followed.  He was listed with +2000 odds early on to win the competition.  The judges felt he needs to take more risks but looked good.

22-year old AJ Talbado, who has tried out for American Idol five times, was up next.  "Kind of a theme park performance" said Simon.  Though the judges felt he performed okay.  Simon did feel AJ might be better than he originally thought.

Phil - this season's military favorite - came into this competition with +1200 odds to win the competition.  He was the last to perform.  He was certainly strong enough to get through this stage of the competition and perhaps the best one after a shaky start.

Tomorrow night, the ladies perform and I sure hope they do a better job than the boys.  Check out all the American Idol betting odds here.

Super Bowl XLIII Betting - Super Bowl 2009

Super Bowl 2009, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.

MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.

Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.

Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.

After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.

Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.

Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.

If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.

Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
